Dr. Gentry,

Today was a good day; anytime we go out soul winning it is a good day because we are obeying the Word of God!

We traveled in the GSCH coaster bus to the village of Chikanga, in the area of Liwonde. This is where the Government School college is. There were 17 adults broken up into 8 teams. God gave us traveling mercies, no police stops, and no breakdowns. When we arrived Andrew Nyenga and myself set off for the Mfumu’s house to talk to him about his salvation and the possibility of purchasing property for a church. Along the way I talked to a muslim man that accepted our tracts, but did not come to repentance. We traveled a little further, and Andrew was able to lead an older lady to the Lord just down from the new Mosque that has been constructed. I talked to 3 young men right in front of the Mosque, and by the time I finished there were about 15 muslims listening to me. At the end none of them wanted to talk to God, but they did ask some questions about the Bible, questions that they have been taught to ask at the Mosque. I ended up handing out tracts, both Heaven Bound, and special Muslim tracts to all, and John/Romans all to the older kids.

We finally arrived at the Mfumu’s house, and he was gracious in listening to me along with about 5 other adults, and about 10 kids. I talked to him for about 45 minutes, giving him my personal testimony about my Salvation, and how God desires a Relationship, not religion. At the end all of the adults, and kids bowed their heads and prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior. When they were done I questioned the Mfumu about did he really pray from his heart, or was he just praying for the azungu. He stated, “I prayed from my heart, and I believe in Jesus”.

We then went to look at some land for a church, there is very little, and just one parcel down from the college about 300 meters on the tarmac. I am asking God to please open something up closer to the college, and show Himself strong on His behalf!!

Off to College!

Dear Praying Saints and Supporters,

This last week was a first for the Good Samaritan Baptist Ministries and the Good Samaritan Children's Home. Four of our young people have gone to college! We were very excited in that these four did well enough in their MSCE exams, (High School exit certificates), attitudes while at Good Samaritan, and their desire to serve God to go forward for higher education.

The four are:

Joseph and Elizabeth have gone to DAPP college to study Sociology. This is a two year course that when completed will allow them to work to interface government and non-government organizations with the public.

Jason and Moses have gone to the African Bible College in Zambia to go through their two year course in Pastoral Studies. At the end of two years they will come back and work within the Good Samaritan organization.

We stepped out in faith, trusting that God is going to provide the necessary funds for these young people to go to college. A Godly evangelist has provided the tuition for Jason and Moses, but we are still lacking additional funds for travel, personal care, and future necessities. We had limited funds for Joseph and Elizabeth, but God has made it possible for us to not have to pay their entire school fees at once. We were able to pay enough for the first 3 month term, and now are trusting God to provide the rest. They too need additional funds for personal care, travel and other necessities.

These four young kids were and are a blessing to Good Samaritan! It is our privilege to pray for them, encourage them, and see God work in their lives.

Please pray about possibly helping one or more of these kids. Even a onetime gift would be a wonderful blessing to them!

He is Home!

What a blessing it was to greet Dr. Gentry, Mrs. Gentry and Peggy Hilton at the Chileka Airport in Blantyre on Saturday the 21^st of January, 2011. Dr. Gentry was like a kid at Christmas time, excited, animated, and in a physical condition that I have not seen since 2007. What an answer to the prayers of all of us who love this dear family who have given of themselves and their worldly possessions to work in the Lord’s ministry here in Malawi.

On Tuesday the 25^th we scheduled the national pastors and their wives to come and greet our director and also to sit under his instruction, and teaching from the scriptures. Mrs. Gentry and Peggy Hilton taught the women under a large tent while Dr. Gentry taught the men. There were approximately 180 men present, and 120 women. The pastors and their wives started to arrive on Monday morning and Good Samaritan fed them lunch and dinner. On Tuesday GSBM provided a tea/breakfast, and a good hot lunch after the teaching service was complete.

After Lunch Brother John paid the monthly support to the national pastors as well as supplying some of them with translated “The 7 Steps of Joy”, KJV John/Romans, “The Trail of Blood” and “Who are the Jehovah’s Witnesses?”. Ms. Goodman opened the clinic for those ladies and their children who were in need of medical assistance. Also she treated many of the men with open wounds and other aches and pains. The final event was the national pastors being able to get reading glasses from Good Samaritan. Faithful people in America have sent many different power reading glasses, and when we can we get them out to the people who are in need. Thank you for supplying this very real need!

This last Wednesday we took a trip about 3 hours east of where we live to the south/west corner of Lake Chilwa, (CHIR WAA), to visit and teach people of the area. We had been asked several months ago to go there and teach them from the “God’s Design for Marriage” and we have been too busy to make the trip. They finally pleaded with me and I promised that when the “visitors” arrived, Tom and Kathy, we would visit and teach. Well, that day arrived and it was a beautiful day. The weather was overcast, and humid, but we had almost 120 men and women attend. We brought 120 pounds of ufa, (maize) flour, 5 liters of oil, 4 kilos of salt, and we bought a goat. We provided them lunch as the area is poor, and we knew that some would walk some distance. The Mozambique border is the lake, and we found out some of the people walked, yes walked, over 50 kilometers from inside the Mozambique border to attend. We all taught for about 2 hours each, with Thandie Chikufenji translating for the ladies, and Pastor Glad for us men. During the teaching we gave a salvation message, and many hands raised to received God’s Perfect Gift of Eternal Life, both men and women.

After the teaching at 2pm we all had a lunch, and then drove the three hours back home. These dear people, to honor us, served us some of their precious rice and chicken. They dined on nsima and goat while they gave us the best; this is their heart. Praise God that while we were there our tire had gone flat, and they assisted us in changing the tire. This might seem trivial, but when you find out that part of you jack has been stolen, it becomes difficult. They had a part of a bicycle gear that would make due, and wal-la, we have a changed tire.

Thank you for praying for us, loving us, and allowing us to represent our Lord and Savior, and BBC.

Greetings for this new year from Malawai!!

We are doing well, tying to keep our heads above water, and God is being gracious in allowing us to serve Him here in Malawi. Tom and Kathy are here, and we are trying to use them in every manner. They have been working in the guest lodgings at the Mapanga compound as Dr. and Mrs. Gentry will be arriving a week from tomorrow. There will also be accompanying them a nurse they have known for many years. They will be staying for two weeks; trying to get a feel what is happening here, and Lord willing solving some of the problems involved. Last Sunday we traveled back to Mkaponda Good Samaritan Baptist Church in the area of Chitera with Kathy teaching the adult ladies, Darcy teaching the kids Sunday School, Andrew Nyenga teaching the men’s Sunday School, and Tom preaching. I have to confess I did little but drive and baptize 11 dear people who believe and received Jesus as their Savior.

News from Malawi January 2, 2011

Today our family along with Tom and Kathy Murray went to Kaponda Good Samaritan Baptist Church in the area of Chitera. It is about 40 minutes from the GSBM compound in Mapanga up the Zomba road. The dirt road we had to take for about 5 Km was not the best, but we did arrive safely and it was a surprise for the pastor to see us. This year we are not announcing where we are going to the local pastors, we are just going to show up. We have found that if they know we are coming they try to have many people there, so they invite other GSBM churches, and sometimes other denominations to attend. We desire to see and encourage the local church, so we want to attend the church and have prayers with them without it being a circus type of event.

Tom taught Sunday School, and I preached. I did not tell him what I was going to preach on, but God is so wise. Tom taught about salvation and serving God, and I preached about starting the new year off right by: 1. Being a Child of God, II Peter 3:9 – 2. Being a Candle of God, Matt. 5:16 – 3. Being a Challenger of God, Matt. 28:18-20. It all fit together, and because of the Holy Spirit between 80 & 90 people prayed to receive Jesus as their personal Savior. We talked about Eternal Salvation, and Believers Baptism and I encouraged them about getting baptized next week. In fact, we are going back to the same church next week to hold a Baptismal Service. Also it seemed that there were some sick kids, so we are going to take some medicine to help the kids, and also some eye glasses for some of the older people.

Christmas at Good Samaritan Childrens Home

We had a wonderful church service on Christmas day at Mapanga Good Samaritan Bible Church. There were many choirs, good singing, and Blessing and other children did a great job of the Christmas Story in a play form.

John Fullford preached on the “Gifts of God”; The Gift of Fulfilled Promises/The Gift of Compassion/The Gift of Grace/The Gift of God”. The bus went out and picked up people from the surrounding villages, and we had a packed house. The church service lasted about 2.5 hours but it went so fast.

After about 2 hours we served the orphans and staff the Christ meal of Chicken, Chips, Salad and Soda. Many people helped to make it happen, with about 7 people starting the cooking the day before. We cooked 90 whole chickens, 400 pounds of chips, 40 heads of cabbage for salad, and we had 300 bottles of soda. It was a great time as Darcy Fullford and John Fullford helped served the kids. God has been so good to us it is without question we owe Him our all!

Christmas in Malawi

Dr. Gentry,

Yesterday afternoon, Christmas Eve day we took about 20 kids from the orphanage to the Chiradzulu Hospital to give out gifts, tracts and John/Romans.

Thandie coordinated with the hospital for our group to do this ministry, and it went very well. Besides the kids, there were Thandie, Rackson, Navigator, Ms. Goodman, Darcy, Johnathan and myself. Darcy and Joseph Edson baked over 300 sweet rolls to give to the patients, and Thandie organized 280 gift bags that contained body soap, clothes soap, and body care jell. We went to two general patient wards, the TB ward, both men and women, the maternity ward, the ER wing, and the Labor ward. We gave out all the gifts, rolls, almost 1000 special Christmas tracts that Darcy typed up, had translated and printed locally, and 250 John/Romans. It was a great time! It was a special blessing for me in that almost all of the young men and women we took jumped right in with soul winning and giving gifts. On several of the wards Navigator, Rackson, and Blessing preached to the whole ward and many raised their hands for salvation. In the mens' TB ward there were 28 men, and when Blessing got done preaching all of them raised their hands for salvation; To God be the Glory!! It would not be hard to see that over 200 souls prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior; what a wonderful Christmas gift!

Fullford family visit

Yesterday our family went to the Chisoka Good Samaritan Baptist Church in the district of Mayaka. It was about 1 hour plus from our home, but most of the travel was on the tarmac road, Praise God! We had about 300 people present, representing several Good Samaritan churches. There were even a couple of pastors from other local churches, Abraham and Evangelical Charasmatic. I have scheduled an appointment with the pastor of the Evangelical church just to find out their doctrinal stand. Sometimes it is hard to see where they are coming from. Andrew Nyenga taught Sunday School, and I preached out of I John 2:25, “The Promises of God”. The basis of my message was that the birth of Christ fulfilled many of God’s promises; Gen. 3:15, Isa. 9:6,7, John 3:16. During the invitation about 40-50 hands were raised to accept God’s Perfect Gift. After we prayed with them, we gave them John/Romans and some tracts. We also answered some of their questions. The church service lasted from 9:30am till 1:30pm. After the church service they presented us with 2 chickens, 5 heads of cabbage, and a meal of nsima and chicken relish. It was more than then had, bless their hearts!

Dear Family in Christ, November 2010

Our mobile college took another trip to encourage the churches in the Monkey Bay area, which is right on Lake Malawi. It was a good trip, but we had a group much smaller than expected. There was a communication breakdown, so there were no ladies present to be taught. Fortunately by evening, a group of ladies was gathered. The men, however, were in place and eager to be taught when we arrived. As usual, we integrated the plan of salvation into our lessons. We had several who had never accepted Christ totally by faith and they made that glorious decision. The eagerness of the people to hear God’s Word was such an encouragement to me, especially because it was so hot and physically taxing to teach in those conditions. We had two more trips planned for this year, but they had to be canceled. The rainy season is upon us, which makes travel in many areas difficult and some impossible. The men are already scheduling trips for this coming year. I am ready and excited to go.

At Mapanga, school is in progress and doing well. We have had nine computers and two printers donated to the school. Two gracious gentlemen bought all the equipment, paid their own way to come over here, modified the room, and installed all the equipment. Our children our enjoying the fruits of these men’s diligent labor. Over all, I see a more seriousness among our students this year. Last year we implemented study hall for forty five minutes after school hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for grades 5-8. The children did not like it and were quite rebellious during that time. This year most of the students are utilizing that time wisely. As they have seen their grades go up, their rebellion has decreased. Our high school students get home quite late, so they have study hall 7-8pm. I have purchased textbooks for them to prepare for their JCE tests and the MSCE tests. Without passing these tests, the students have no hope of entering the university. Four of our six graduates this last year passed. I have made many changes on the primary school level to ensure that we send strong students into high school. Our first term ends on December 10^th and will resume for the second term on January 3^rd. During the break I have made arrangements for a teacher to tutor our grade 8 students who have a special test to qualify for high school. I will also have tutoring for our students who are taking the JCE and MSCE tests this year. I know that the year will go by quickly just as the first term is about gone.

Malaria season has arrived. I beg prayers for all of us. There are no screens on the orphanage windows, so mosquito nets are the children’s only protection. We have had four already with Malaria. Two of the four had a temperature of 107 F. I really had to act fast. I had the sponged down, and had them chomp several bwabwa (Their version of a popsicle in a bag) to help cool them down. The one child fainted, so we immediately headed to the hospital. Doctors and hospitals are not like home. We had to go to the doctor’s house to wake him up, then we left to meet him at the hospital. Simon was admitted and kept for a couple of days before he had any strength to come home. Both of the children with the temperature of 107F would have died if they had been in the village. Our children have a good diet and medicine right away. Malaria is a real killer!

On a lighter subject, I am becoming more Malawian every day. I had too many things to carry that were heavy the other day in town. My backpack was loaded, and I still had a bundle of school exercise books to carry. I had a guard at the store help me put the exercise books on my head like everyone else does. I can’t balance it on my head with no hands like the other women, but using my head did help to get my purchases to the mini bus to get home. I am eating “ngumbi” (flying termites). The rain flushes the “ngumbi” out of the ground, and they are a great treat for everyone. The procedures is to pull the wings off and roast them in a pan over the fire. All I taste is a salty crunch. If and when I start eating mice, I’ll let you know.

Today we received the printing press from Brother Bill Daniels in Durban S. Africa. I have attached some photos of the unloading. It was interesting as everyone had a suggestion, and by God’s Grace no one was hurt.

I have received an email from a man that attends Harvest Baptist Church in Ft. Dodge that is willing to come in February to set the machine up and train us.

There is some literature with the machine and I will give it a look/see and Lord willing Brother Daniels sent the “needs to be fixed” list for it.

We are cancelling our Luo trip in that the rains have hit the area we were scheduled to go to hard. We will re-schedule for June of next year. John & Darcy Fullford

Dear Fellow Laborers and Servants of the Most High God,

Much to my shame I have not sent out a prayer letter for the months of August, September, and here it is at the end of October. Even though our schedule has been hectic, I can only ask your forgiveness in this matter.
In August Darcy, Sarah and Johnathan traveled back to the United States to enroll Sarah at Golden State Bible College in Santa Clara, California. Her plan is to study for one year, and then seek God’s direction. Our family here in Malawi is down to three, John, Darcy and Johnathan, but we know that the hearts of Elizabeth and Sarah are still here.
Darcy’s other main purpose was to help her oldest daughter, Anna, as she had her first child on the 10th of August. She really wanted to be there to help out. Also it was a good time for her to visit with the rest of her family and have some R & R. Johnathan went back to visit family and friends.
During their time in America John traveled to several areas of Mozambique where Good Samaritan has many churches. Also accompanying John were Henry Chatata, Andrew Nyenga, Thandie Chikufenji, and Sharon Goodman. The team spent 3-4 days in each area teaching from the Word of God and also doing soul winning. A mobile medical clinic was set up in two of the villages and many people were helped with free medicine, and also the treatment of open wounds. John baptized 271 people during these trips, and an additional 92 wanted to be baptized in one village, but when he went down to the Shire River to inspect the waters the nationals said it was too dangerous due to the crocodiles; 17 villagers have been killed by crocodiles since the beginning of this year alone in that area.
Darcy and Johnathan arrived back in Malawi on the 8th of September and immediately became involved with the moving of our home from a rented house in the city of Limbe to a house directly across from the Good Samaritan Compound on the Zomba Road. This new house has a ten year lease, and it will be a great blessing not to have to drive the 20 to 30 minutes one way from Limbe every day just to get to the Bible College and Children’s Home.
In October our family traveled to the area of Monkey Bay for three days of Bible teaching, child evangelism and soul winning. Our team again consisted of Henry Chatata, Andrew Nyenga, Thandie Chikufenji, Jason James, Sharon. Goodman and our family. John taught approximately 60 men over the three days, and Darcy taught approximately 60 women. Darcy also helped teach the kids with one of our national young preacher boys assisting her over the 3 days. Darcy, John, Ms. Goodman and Henry Chatata also set up the mobile medical clinic and helped out many of the villagers and their children. During the evenings we showed “The Jesus Film” to approximate 500 people each night. At the end of each showing the people who were present were preached to and many hands were raised for salvation. It was a good trip, and we look forward toour next trip in November to the Lower Shire River area. Also in November we are planning a two day trip up to the northern region to the village of Nkhota-kota. This area is predominantly Muslim but we have one Good Samaritan Church in this area that needs encouragement.
We have received news that our printing press will be arriving any day at the Good Samaritan Compound and we are really excited about this. We do not know anything about a printing press or the operation, but if God supplied the press He will provide the necessary people to help set it up and train us in the operation of it!
There are so many needs with the ministry in Malawi. Medicine, eye glasses, Bible helps, Chichewa Bibles, building materials for the churches, maintenance materials for the Children’s home, school supplies for the orphans, clothes for the orphans and the list goes on and on. The one constant is that my God continues to meet our needs and the needs of this ministry. Thank you with all my heart for those that continue to support our family and the Good Samaritan Baptist Ministry through Victory World Outreach of Louisville, Kentucky. The character of a person truly comes out when difficult times arrive.
We continue to pray for other nzungus, (white people) to come and work with us here in this ministry. It need not be a full time help, but even for 1-3 months at a time. The skills needed are:

 Farmer
 Medical Personnel

Sept. 20, 2010

Dear Praying and Concerned Friends:

I just returned from traveling hours every day teaching and preaching 13 of 14 days in Malawi and putting Chichewa New Testaments in the hands of over 450 Baptist pastors. In all of the regional conferences there were many more – deacons, ladies, evangelists, eager young people who wanted one but there were only enough for the pastors. THE GOAL IS TO SHIP A CONTAINER LOAD OF 35,000 for the pastors to distribute to their people who can read! My friend, Bobby Glasgow, a successful businessman and farmer from Alabama was with me and has helped with the funding of these New Testaments. He is very burdened for Malawi. Some pastors were ill and could not journey to one of the regional sites. I missed the pastor in Nsanje whose leg was taken by a crocodile a few years ago – he was very sick. In the first week there, we got news that a pastor near a game park had been killed by an elephant while defending his small garden. Another pastor I had known from many previous teaching trips had died just a few months ago in the home of my church planting national leader, Andrew Dzimbiri. I was able to give some money personally to the widows of these pastors which they will use to buy fertilizer and seed for the planting season as they are now totally responsible for keeping their children alive.

Of all the regions I was in, the most troubling was crossing over the border on Sunday, Sept. 12 into the country of Mozambique, an area which had had no rain in over 2 years. Everything was shriveled and desolate. The people greeted us so cheerfully and after preaching with about 8 souls saved, they presented us with 2 chickens to eat at the regional meeting the next day.

Please pray as we are wanting to send some of the orphan “preacher boys” (who have graduated high school) to a 2 year Bible Institute in Zambia (CABC) so they can train to come back and teach Bible at the orphanage and our own Bible College. Any help with shipping the New Testaments would be great. Thanks for all you do in helping me to teach and preach around the world. I travel to Haiti in 2 weeks and then Pakistan later in the year – two catastrophe affected countries.

MISSION MALAWI

Dear Faithful Friends and Fellow Workers for Christ,

LORD MAKE ME TO KNOW MINE END, AND THE MEASURE OF MY DAYS, WHAT IT IS; THAT I MAY KNOW HOW FRAIL I AM. Psalm 39:4

How true this request is! We pride ourselves on being reliant and being able to work within God’s ministry, but just say this prayer and hang on!
God showed Himself strong on both His and our behalf when we traveled down the Chikwawa road to Nchalo, then turned west on a rough dirt road and continued to travel into Mozambique. We had a schedule for 4 days of meetings at a Good Samaritan Church with other GSBM churches expect to come. What a blessing it was, when we arrived to be well greeted, and with enthusiasm. Our group consisted of Ms. Goodman, Thandie Chikufenji, Henry Chatata, Andrew Nyenga, Blessing Chikopa, and John Fullford. Our goal was to teach these dear people from the Word of God and both strengthen/encourage them.
After our arrival those not teaching immediately set up our camp site, and then started getting ready to teach or assist. Do to the lack of food in the area; Good Samaritan brought maize, cabbage, small fishes, oil and salt for the meals during these 4 days. Many people traveled from far distances to attend these classes and we wanted to serve them in the best way possible.
Monday and Tuesday were very sunny and hot during the day. During the Morning classes on Tuesday Andrew and John went out soul winning and had a great time of fellowship and telling people about God’s wonderful Gift of Life! After our evening meal we started to show “The Jesus Film” to about 400 people, and at this time the weather took a turn for the worst. The wind picked up, it started to mist and rain, and the temperature dropped. It was like this all night, Wednesday, Wednesday night, and right into Thursday. This did not denture us and about 80 dear souls that stayed with us. Many people left for their homes, and it could have been discouraging, but I believe God just culled the crowd and those that remained were serious about God and His Word! I shared this thought with those that remained and when I finished they started to sing and shout praises! The camp site was cold, wet and muddy and it brought Psalm 39:4 to heart. We can plan, but the rest is in God’s Hands!
On Tuesday afternoon we had a baptismal service for many of the people who had raised their hands for salvation during classes, and during our soul winning. John baptized 132 people over a 2 hour period. Just to get to the pool of stagnant water we traveled 10 kilometers down a dirt road, and then walked another 2-3 kilometers. These dear souls were serious, and believed the Word of God when it comes to the first step of obedience.
On Thursday afternoon we curtailed the rest of the classes due to weather; many of the people did not bring heavy clothing because when they came it was hot. They were cold, shivering and exhausted from sleepless nights.
On another note God has answered our prayers for a printing press! We have been given, free of charge, a Multilith 1250 printing press from S. Africa. Another missionary who has a printing ministry donated the machine to Good Samaritan with the stipulation that we transport it up to Malawi ourselves. What a Blessing from God!
We also have a commitment from a church in America to send someone over to Malawi when we receive it to repair it if needed, and to train our young men on the operation. Tell me God does not answer prayers!!
Thank you to all that continue to give even though your finances have been greatly affect by the American economy. We covet your prayers more than anything as God is listening for YOU!

The Gentry's Malawi Africa

Dear Supporting Partners,

Thank you for your encouraging prayers, calls and cards during my period of recovery. We accepted the challenge, call of God and risk to work in a third world country to establish churches, win the lost and rescue abandoned orphans and much more. My body has been riddled with various illnesses due to the exposure of life threatening diseases in Africa. However, we are not complaining or turning our back on the call of God. Thousands would be without the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and others left hopeless had we not willingly placed our lives in the gap for them. We serve a mighty God who is well able to help us overcome anything the enemy sends our way. And so we continue the work victorious in whatever state we find ourselves. His grace is sufficient. Please don’t give up on us – your prayers and financial support are piercing the Dark Continent with the light of the gospel.

Bro. James LaCrone who prints thousands of gospel tracts and John and Romans booklets in Chichewa recently made two drop trips to Louisville, KY with hundreds of boxes of this precious cargo that we placed in another container for future shipping to Malawi. Thanks to many of you that are putting wings to the Word of God to reach the dying across the ocean. At the present we are still waiting for the financial funds to send the present container already full of urgent supplies. We need your help in this area as our missionaries eagerly wait for these much needed helps.

We have received requests for an update from our Malawi staff whom a lot of you met personally when they traveled with us in the states to visit your churches. President Henry Chatata and Children’s Home Director Thandiwe Chickufenji recently returned from a week’s trip to Mozambique where they visited our churches there and offered many helps to strengthen them in the Word of God. The team along with Bro. John Fullford and Ms. Sharon Goodman (School Administrator and Children's Home Assistant) were overwhelmed with the results of this journey, as they found these churches operating in dire poverty with joy abounding in His grace and mercy. Chris Gome our building and supply business manager is doing well and active again. Navigator Gome our government informer and numerous helps man, is now enrolled in a 4 year Bible College in Zambia where he desires to further his education in Bible to be a greater servant of Good Samaritan Ministries. President Henry Chatata is a very informative country man and tremendous teacher/preacher of the Word. He oversees the 400+ churches offering helps and keeping check on them through the evangelists under him. These men and women serve under the direction of Assistant Director of Good Samaritan Ministries John Fullford. Many other helpers assist these leaders named, in various and many ways to fully equip this vast ministry.

Thanks to our American staff and National staff for their tireless teamwork in ministering this great work and in advancing the gospel truth in Malawi. And especially to all of you stateside who dare to care by submitting your hard earned dollars to help finance this much needed cause for Jesus Christ. We are powerless without your prayer support also.

Listen come close and place your spiritual ear to this letter – can you hear the heartbeat of God for these needy people? His creation! "And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that Thine hand might be with me, and that Thou wouldest keep me from evil that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. I Chron. 4:10

As missionaries we continually bring our request up to God’s throne and the more we get involved, the more opportunities we see! We desire God to enlarge our coast in the ministry here at Good Samaritan.

In March of this year God laid it upon my heart to call the owner of the land next to orphanage in Mapanga. We wanted to know if the land he owned was for sale, or rent. It is about the same quantity as the orphanage property, about 11 acres, but it has a house on it, though it is in need of repair and refurbishing, and several out buildings. The response from the owner was that he would be willing to sell, or rent if that was our direction. It was during our 2^nd meeting that God directed me to ask him about his eternal salvation. As most Malawians would he stated he would go to heaven. When I asked him why, he stated because he went to church. At that point I took the scriptures and showed him God’s plan of salvation. Both he and his companion believe and received Christ as their personal Savior! We see this added land as an opportunity to:

1. Build our own secondary school. This would allow us to have our own curriculum, have control on Bible teaching and also not to have to spend the money to transport 26 students into the city of Blantyre every day.

2. Build a Bible College that would be self-sufficient and separate from the orphanage compound.

3. Give us greater growing capacity; it already has many banana, papaya, avocado and mango trees on it.

4. Build a new Mapanga Good Samaritan Church that would help control people coming into the orphanage compound.

We are still negotiating for this land and Lord willing we will know the cost within a short period of time.

Also in March of this year we received a letter from the Minister of Lands that they are going to give back 100 hectares of land, up at Ntcheu, to Good Samaritan that they seized almost 1.5 years ago. There has to be a formal meeting at the project site with local authorities and the people of the area. This is an answer to pray! It is exciting to see God work, and to patiently wait on Him to open the door so that we can begin again the construction of the new orphanage up at Ntcheu.

On March 18^th & 19^th we had a two day school for pastors and their wives. The subject was “God’s Design for a Biblical Marriage”. John taught the men during the two days. Darcy and Sharon Goodman taught the women. We have translated and printed lessons into a book form that shows from the Word of God His standards for marriage and our responsibilities to our spouses and children. We had over 120 pastors and their wives attend. Good Samaritan provided transportation, housing and food for three days. The lessons were well received and Lord willing they will change many lives. On Friday the 19^th Brother Gil Anger came later in the afternoon and talked first just to the men, and then to all for about two hours. It was great to see Brother Anger again after over two years.

On the 25^th of March the Greenfield family, Neal, Leslie and Lacy, came to help out in the ministry for approximately three weeks. During that time frame they went out soul winning to many different areas, and taught Bible studies in different villages every week. They also went to a different village every Sunday to teach and preach the Word of God. Many people received Christ as their Savior during this time. They also accompanied us up to the new orphanage project site at Ntcheu to attend to the sick during one of our “medicine ministry” trips. We saw and treated over 450 people on this day. They were a great encouragement during their stay!

We continue to translate and print books and Bible helps to get them out into the hands of the people. We have to pay much Kwacha for this ministry and Good Samaritan is praying about buying a used printing press. This would cut cost down, and give us a greater freedom in printing. It would also allow us to train and involve more of our young men in the ministry. We have contacted Jeremy Johnson, a missionary to South Africa, and ask his assistance in locating a used press for sale. Lord willing He will “enlarge” our coast in this area.

On the last Friday night of March we had our monthly “Preacher Boy” night and it was just great! We had 15 young men preach for up to 10 minutes each. There was much enthusiasim from all those that were in attendance, both boys and girls.

At the beginning of April we started up the Good Samaritan Junior Bible College for boys and girls at the orphanage. It will run through August of this year and the classes are:

1. Minor Prophets

2. Homeletics-Boys only.

3. “Seeking God”-Girls only.

4. Old and New Testament Survey

5. The Life of Christ

This year we are scheduling time teaching/meetings in the south of Malawi and northern Mozambique that will last from 3 to 5 days each. We have many Good Samaritan churches in these areas, East Bank, Chikwawa, Nsanje, Lower Shire, Mozambique #1, and Mozambique #2. They have been asking for teaching assistance and we are going go down and assist them to the best of our ability. We will take as much printed materials as our vehicle can hold and Lord willing we can impart a spiritual blessing on them.

We want to thank all of the faithful saints who give month after month to the Good Samaritan Ministry! At times it may seem that what you give is not making a difference, but I can assure you that souls are being added to the Kingdom of God and it is because of your selfless giving! Also you are making a difference in the lives of orphaned boys and girls that will one day preach and teach the Word of God to others.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Greetings ! As usual, there is more of God's work to be done than hands to do it. We are involving the children in the ministry more and more. They are a great help. We have resumed our Junior Bible College to teach them even more, and we have a good group of eager learners. We are constantly encouraging them to be doers of the work and not hearers only.
My concerns are for the childrens secular education. The budget for their schooling has not been enough and is shrinking. The funds to hire government qualified teachers for our primary school is lacking. Government has closed over 500 schools due to schools not meeting their standards. We have had grace because we are an orphanage, but the rules are getting tighter. Our grace is running out! We cannot start our secondary school because teacher's wages are way beyond what we can pay. For many reasons we need to get our children out of the public system. We are also in need of funds for new uniforms, books, and other materials to continue a good educational environment. We need funds to train some of our children in a trade. It would be nice to be able to help those diligent learners with the university costs. Reality is that all of these children are not going to be preachers and preacher's wives. We want to have our children in leadership positions in many walks of life. Their godly influence as leaders will continue to be witnesses to many Malawians that others might not reach. Will you help with their schooling?

The Fullford Report

MISSION MALAWI
Dear Fellow Saints,
As Jesus sent his twelve disciples out on their missionary journey, He reminded them that the authority and power they possessed was given them by the Holy God of Heaven. We too need to keep in remembrance that what we have in this present world is by the Grace of God; not of ourselves! We serve Him for His pleasure and it is a privilege, not a right.
This month we have primarily visited Masidi Good Samaritan Church in the village of Namulu, Mkalo district. During our two visits 180 souls believe and received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior; to God be the Glory! We also baptized 71 in a local creek and ministered to the church with medicine and Bible teaching helps.
The school year is coming to a close for 6 young men and ladies as they are taking their exams to complete Form 4, (grade 12). They are excited about finishing school, but they are also apprehensive about becoming adults and going back to their respective villages, or Lord willing onto higher education. We continue to encourage the children that are not graduating to work hard in the area of their education.
We are still praying and working on the acquiring of the land next to the Mapanga compound. We have to be patient and allow God to move the heart of the owner, as He sees fit. The door is not closed to the purchase, but it is moving very slowly.
John is in America part of this month to attend our daughter’s graduation from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. He also is taking care of some business that can only be handled on that side of the pond.
Darcy, Sarah and Johnathan will be staying in Malawi to continue the ministry and take care of any problems that arise while John is gone.
Also this month we are moving from our present location into another home that is smaller and much more manageable. The new location will be on a better road and Lord willing all will go well.
The Mowery family from Bible Baptist Church of Fairbanks, Alaska have sold their home and are moving forward to joining our family here in Malawi. We have known this family for many years and are excited about sharing this ministry with them.
We met with Aleck Ngwazi from Mzuzu earlier this month and have scheduled meetings up in the north of Malawi for the month of September, 2010. He has started a Good Samaritan Church in this area and has encouraged us to come and preach/teach the people.

We want to make you aware of a very needy project for Malawi that is yet to be completed. On the property of our home church sits a 40 ft. container filled to the brim with much needed supplies for the children’s home and numerous other items that cannot be purchased in Malawi except with great cost. We must ship this container across the ocean before summer of this year. (Our goal!) The total cost pending is $11,500. This is a lot of money but with small donations from many people we together can make this possible. Perhaps someone or groups of people would like to make this a Malawi mission’s project to raise funds and help us launch this container. We will be most grateful to any assistance you can offer.
Regretfully, our recent trip to Malawi was temporarily postponed due to health complications. We are regaining our strength and hopeful to reschedule soon. Many thank yous for your concern and prayers for my recovery. Some of you stressed an interest to hear an update on our blog spot – we apologize for not keeping you informed or letting you know about us personally.
Please keep our national pastors before God’s throne as they are the spiritual hope of Malawi. As they grow spiritually the people grow spiritually. They need much encouragement and helps in their slow process of learning. Most of them receive $20 per month from loving donors across America with purpose to allow them time to leave their fields of work to help pastor their people. With the rise of inflation you can imagine how little this is to a starving family who lives from the small yield of crops they raise. Fertilizer is a luxury they cannot afford – for many water is far away and the rainy season can be a curse or a blessing – too little or too much. Some people have suggested we need to drop this amount of support and teach these pastors to become self supporting as a pastor and as a church. For those close to the cities this may be a reality. For those in the bush – to sell their crops from small garden plots would mean starvation to the family. All these people have to tithe is their small harvest of fruits and vegetables and a little kwacha amounting to pennies in our U.S. economy. Hopefully, this will bring understanding to those who are not fully aware of the lifestyle of these poor people who live in a country with no industries to earn money.
Our mission stories are unending – the prevailing plea for help meets us at every turn and movement in this poverty stricken society. Some we can help others we must turn away – due to human impossibilities. Always, we can offer the one who never slumbers or sleeps and who without fail will meet their desperate needs – He is the Almighty God, El Shaddai, the all Sufficient One, the Nourisher, the Strength-giver, the Satisfier, and Jesus Christ, their eternal salvation.

We have 430 churches. Many of them are still in need of iron sheeting for roofs to replace grass roofs that fall in the rainy season. There is a need for cement to replace dirt floors and cement pews to sit on. Some or mostly all need a baptistery. To prevent the thought of favoritism and the feelings of jealousy we try to help the older established churches first. Due to changes in government we are being forced with higher school fees for our school kids (Children’s Home) and higher paid certified teachers. The need list is never-ending and sometimes overwhelming when you are 2 or 3 lone full-time missionaries surrounded by thousands of needy people who are looking to you to help them in their dilemmas. The “CRY” of the missionaries is as loud and real as the “CRY” of the poor. May God help us all! And send laborers and financial aid and your prayers!! The Homeless – Naked – Hungry – Sick – Diseased – Sinful; the task is exhausting but rewarding when we personally see the hundreds come to Jesus Christ weekly!!

The Team Harry Schenimann and son Eric have arrived safely in Malawi and headed to the round house. Harry and his wife Marilyn have been to Malawi a couple of times helping with the every day needs of repairs at the Children's Home, handing out tracts, soul winning, etc. There is plenty to do!!! They also saw the need for the children to have skills when they reach age of leaving the Children's Home. Harry and Marilyn have been fund-raising to purchase computers so the children can learn skills. The computers arrived(usually not the case) with Harry and Eric, however the government wants duty fees paid. Rackson has been at the Government office trying to get some waiver. It is in God's hands!!

Thank you for your prayers for the Kennedy Family and Dr. and Ms. Alice Gentry. Please continue to lift them up to God.

Please send prayers out for Denise Kennedy! She is in the hospital for kidney stones and hopefully a procedure today. They have tried lithotripsy and will try another procedure because of the size of the stones. Denise Kennedy is Dr. and Ms. Alice Gentrys' daughter. As a wife of a Pastor and mother and etc. etc. etc. The family is in need of prayers.

Many have asked how is Dr. and Ms. Alice doing? The weather caused excitement this past weekend but no flooding where they live. Dr. Gentry is feeling better, so much he is on his tractor clearing debris from the winter. God is blessing them with better health. Please keep them in prayers also so the trip to Malawi will be soon.

Weekly news!

The rains have been heavy and that means among many things: Malaria, no internet and most of the time bad phone service. It took most of the day but I was able to get through and get some updates.
The Fullfords', The Greenfields (visitors from Bible Baptist Fairbanks, Ak)Rackson Kaiwe, Japeth and Jason James went to Ntcheu yesterday for clinic. Ntcheu is three to four hours away. They arrived about 8:30am to see approximately 450 - 500 people. Bro. Neal Greenfield was able to help some with open wounds. Jason James went to the people to tell them about Jesus. There were many SAVED! It was a very long day!
Today the group went to Thyolo (cho low) for another clinic, where they met with 60 - 70 people. They are in need of more clinic. Which is simple medicine. Aspirin (needed for malaria), worm medicine and wound care.
Tomorrow starts the Jr. Bible College. Rackson will be teaching also. There are 25 girls and 17 boys signed up. They can't get enough word.

Dear Saints of God,

URGENT!! URGENT!! URGENT!! URGENT!! URGENT!!

We have an urgent prayer request for the Good Samaritan Children’s Home, Good Samaritan Baptist Ministries of Malawi.

We had a meeting with the owner of land and buildings that are adjacent to our existing Good Samaritan compound at Mapanga. The amount of land is 22 hectares, about 44 acres. It has banana trees on the front part, and much maize growing on the rest. It has a main house, detached worker quarters, a building for a maize mill and partial walls around the main home. He is a business man, a national, and we had 4 questions for him.

1. Would he be willing to sell the whole 22 hectares with the house and buildings. ( stated yes, but would get back to us with the price)

2. Would he be willing to sell a small part of the front for a church building to be constructed. (stated yes, but would get back to us with the price)

3. Would he be willing to rent the house, other building and some of the land. (stated yes, and the cost would be Mk50,000.00 per month, about $450.00)

4. Would he be willing to rent the rest of the land to Good Samaritan. (stated yes, but would get to us with price)

Our family is moving from the large house that we are currently renting because it is too large now that Elizabeth is back in the States preparing for college. We are looking at a small house on BCA hill in Limbe, but we also have been praying that God would make available a house by the Mapanga Orphanage. We have to travel about 25 to 30 minutes one way each day to get from BCA Hill to Mapanga. Now that gas is over $8.00 per gallon it is getting expensive. Also when decisions need to be made it is difficult. We believe living close by would be for the betterment of our ministry.

Our desire for a new church building would be that the current building the church is occupying within the compound could be used for classrooms. We want to start a secondary school on the compound. We currently bus 28 of our kids to two different schools. The teaching is weak, and we have no control over what they learn; both scholastically, and spiritually. The cost is also high with bus maintenance, fuel, and time. Having the church on the compound allows people that do not have a part of the Children’s Home on the compound. In the past we have had some minor problems, and both Dr. Gentry and I feel it would be better for the orphans if we could control their exposure to outside people. Building a church building outside the compound would not isolated the surrounding communities from Good Samaritan but continue to minister unto them.

We are praying for a good harvest of the maize we planted on our property behind the current Orphanage compound. Lord willing we will have about 200, 50 Kg. bags of maize at the end of harvest. This is a big help with cutting our need for food support, but it is still not enough. With this additional land we could grow enough food so that would have enough for ourselves, plus have the opportunity to sell excess and shoulder more of our financial needs.

PLEASE PRAY NOW FOR US!! THE OWNERS NAME IS LINGA LEMONI. HE IS CURRENTLY PONDERING OUR QUESTIONS AND IS TO TALK WITH US IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS CONCERNING COST. AS FAR AS I KNOW HE IS NOT SAVED AND LORD WILLING I CAN HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO WITNESS TO HIM!

WE NEED GOD’S DIRECTION IN THIS MATTER. IF IT IS GOD’S WILL FOR ANY OF THE QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED IN THE AFFIRMATIVE, WE ARE ASKING THAT GOD TOUCHES THE OWNERS HEART, & THAT HE RESPONDS WITH A PRICE FROM GOD! WE NEED GOD’S PEOPLE TO PRAY WITH US.

Preacher Boy night February

Dear Victory World Ministries,

I just thought I would send a photo of the young men and boys who participated in our February “Preacher Boy” night. We had seventeen get up and preach, and some of them did a good job, and some did not, but Lord willing they will improve!

We have been having a lot of rain over the last couple of weeks. I am afraid that it is coming too late as much of the corn we have been seeing is stunted, and already tasseled.

We started the new bath house 3 weeks ago, and it is looking good. The walls are up and the plumber is almost done roughing in the walls. The roof will go on next week, then the plaster, paint and plumbing finish. I am excited about having something that is new, and done well!

Merry Christmas from all of us at Victory World Outreach Ministries

Yearly assessment, December 2009 year ending.

Thank you for trusting us with your dollars and various helps that have advanced the ministry in Malawi with a harvest of souls numbering in the thousands. Many have been fed, clothed and treated medically. Many others have been taught the Word of God where there was no teaching helps. Churches have been established and buildings erected to house the multitudes seeking spiritual guidance. With some we have seen slow stages of growth considering their deprivation of proper diet and access to schools.

We have a small missionary staff who are tirelessly continuing their endless task of overseeing the Good Samaritan Ministries in our absence. However we do have a large staff of trained nationals who are working alongside and doing a great job also. We commend Bro. John and Darcy Fullford and their family, and Sister Sharon Goodman our missionaries, and our nationals who have long been helping to oversee the works there; Bro. Henry Chatata, Bro. Chris Gome, Bro. Andrew Nyenga, Bro. Navigator Gome, Sister Thandiwe Chikufenji and Bro. Rackson Kaiwe. Added to these we have 420 plus pastors, 38 evangelists, elementary school teachers, caregivers, maintenance helpers, guards and other assisting workers. All help to complete the job daily.

We are most grateful to the many short term helps from the U.S. – this year alone we had help from California, Alaska, Canada, North Carolina, West Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Arizona. We thank God for all who desire to come and help with the tasks that are overwhelming!

“You” can be the answer to someone’s “cry” in this third poorest country in the world. God has placed a “few” missionaries in this poverty stricken place to be your point of contact to help pierce the darkness and bring the saving Gospel Light. Will “you” place in the missionaries hands the substance needed to help the perishing multitudes, and to help educate those who need proper schooling to make a living?

PLEASE HELP by sending funds to school our young people in the children’s home. To school our elementary students this coming year, it will cost $550 per student. To school our high school students it will cost $750 per student. This includes food, clothing, transportation and book fees. Can “you” help educate these young people so when they are old enough to leave the children’s home they can adapt and survive in their country as citizens that will make a better society for them and others?

Remember: Bro. Chris Gome (faithful worker) diagnosed with a severe case of tuberculosis. His daily medicine will cost (U.S.) $7 per day.

Blessing, Jason, Betty and Harriet headed up the soulwinning team to Milepa, Mulange. This is also Pastor Green January Jr.'s church district. The testimonies given at church on Sunday were so exciting and lots of blessings of people coming to know the Lord.

Fridays are "Preacher Boy" nights. John Fullford, Navigator, and any boys that want to be preachers are given 10 minutes. The names go in the hat and when your name is drawn you are given a chance to Preach. There was alot of excitement at Mapanga Friday night along with encouragement from all that attended.

Malawi has been a blessing to me. In September 2008 I spent two weeks with a group of six men and we worked on building roof systems at both the Mapanga Orphanage and three hours north at Ntcheu. It was a great experience to be involved in the Lord’s work and to be able to help with the building process. Also, the Lord richly blessed me with a burden for the people of Malawi as I saw how physically and spiritually needy they are. In the villages that I observed, they have neither, electricity, running water, inside plumbing, nor have they ever slept on a bed. Their food consisted mostly of maize, which is very non nutritional. They scratch out a day to day living.
This September, my wife Marilyn, and I, and a nurse from our home church had the privilege, and I mean privilege, to spend two weeks in Malawi working at the Mapanga Orphanage and the churches in the villages. What a blessing it was. As we rode to the church at Bawalia with John Fullford and his family we passed villagers walking up to two miles to attend church. We stopped along the way and picked up as many as would fit in the SUV. I thought it was full with 6 in the back, but John said he had 11 in the back before. As we approached the church about 15 ladies from the church surrounded the car dancing and singing hymns as the tossed flowers on and in the car to welcome us to their church. It warmed our hearts to see their love for us and the Lord. They had very little, but showed us the love of God in their actions.
We were involved in village medical clinics with The Fullford family at Bawalia and Ntcheu. It was heart breaking to see the many medical needs from colds to parasites in the body, injuries, malaria, cataracts etc. This monthly clinic is the only medical help they receive as they have no money to go to the clinic in town.
We were involved in a health clinic at the orphanage where all the orphans were given a basic physical. They were all in good physical condition which was very encouraging. The improved food plan is certainly paying off in the good health of the children.
While at the orphanage though, we were burdened with the need for educational tools for the orphans. As they are getting older and the time is coming to leave the home and go out on their own they will have to be able to take care of themselves in the outside world. This will be very difficult, I’m afraid, because they haven’t learned a skill or a trade with which to support themselves. They have been fed, clothed, have basic general schooling through high school, and know about the Lord Jesus Christ and are continually encouraged to receive Him as their personal savior. This, however, is not enough! Without a skill or a trade, they are forced back into the poverty of the village life where they will have to struggle every day to eek out a living. I don’t believe that is God’s plan for their future. During this visit, the Lord burdened Marilyn and I with the desire to raise the funds necessary to help with the training of the children to help prepare them to support themselves. With $10,000 we can provide the orphanage with a computer lab with 10 computers for both the older and the young children to learn typing, office skills, and computer operations. The $10,000 will include the computers and peripheral equipment, plus the electrical, lighting, desks and chairs; everything to provide a fully equipped computer room. When the money is raised, myself and two other men will go and do the work necessary to get the computer lab up and running.
God is doing an awesome work both in the villages and at the orphanage through the missionaries and the national pastors. We were honored that we were found worthy to help in a small way with the work.

Hello from Dubai:

It is Sunday here and a regular work day in the Muslim world. I have had great opportunities as we have had our services in the labour camps Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The labor camps have moved mainly to Abu Dhabi so that's where we have the groups of believers, one only 70 miles from the SAUDI BORDER!! On Friday night we had about 30 men after having meetings during the day with several as well. This is the day of worship here and the only day these laborers have off from working on the tall buildings here. Hebron, the church planter I brought over from Pakistan 2 years ago has won between 10 and 20 Sikhs and Hindus just in the last several months. I have met and briefly spoken to each one as they have welcomed me and hung on every word. I have spoken 3 different nights to groups in different labor camps of between 10 and 30 men squeezed in a bunkhouse room sitting on beds and all over the floor for 2 and 3 hours listening to the Word of God and singing. Last night a Muslim young man sat in on the meeting and heard every word. He was our driver and heard us discussing many things about the Lord on the way and return trip. Another time 2 Muslims, brothers who were getting married next month back in Pakistan (arranged by family ) invited us into their bunkhouse with some other Muslim men to talk. TODAY, A DOCTOR, ALI, FROM IRAN JOINED ME AT THE TABLE FOR BREAKFAST AND WE TALKED FOR AN HOUR, MOSTLY ABOUT GOD AND THE DIFFERENCES IN HIS god, allah and JEHOVAH. After we parted and had discussed what we believed, I asked him if he would accept a Farsi Bible, one of 5 I brought over and he did gladly and said he would read it.Then just awhile ago, I was on the brand new metro taking pictures and I sat with a young professional man from Bangladesh. Again, I shared the differences in who God is and how Jesus was God in the flesh and provided salvation and rose again. He had never heard about this Jesus, only the Muslim Jesus who was born of Miriam and died a martyr. He listened eagerly and said he would think about it. You cannot get much farther than that with a Muslim who has never heard about the Biblical Jesus and assumed what the Koran says about him is what is true. I cannot describe how wonderful it is to talk with Muslims who do not have their guard up but just want to know what I believe as a Christian. Please pray as I go to Jordan tomorrow and on to Myanmar for 2 weeks. I will write more when I return. I find it exciting that I am in the same city (Abu Dhabi) with Hillary Clinton and Christianne Amanpour of CNN reporting on all kinds of news concerning Afghanistan and the Israel Palestine peace agreement. BUT I AM ON THE KING'S BUSINESS WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT??? God bless you.

John and Darcy Fullford went to prayer and the children at the Children's Home also went to God and that night God gave us the answer with The Fullfords' sending church.
